Monday Rewind

And because another week basically got away from me..... before I regale you with the PAST weekend's activities, I should finish up last weekend. Because LAST Sunday was a certain little one's 16 month-day!!! ZOMG....really???

Yep, last Sunday, the 27th, you turned 16 months old. And just like last year, you spent this month-day at Nana and PopPop's helping them decorate their tree. Although like last year, you still weren't that helpful. Last year, of course, you just couldn't and this year, you just weren't that interested. Oh well!

This year's tree decorating was eventful because you ate at a restaurant for the first time. You had your first kid's meal at the Olive Garden. We ordered you ravioli with tomato sauce and broccoli. Everyone was surprised that I chose broccoli because you have been spitting it out lately, but I am determined to have you eat your fruits and veggies at every meal. I know it will be a struggle, but I think it is worth the battle in the long run. So I fed you some broccoli first, and you ate it because you were so hungry, but once that wore off, you did start to turn your nose up at it a little, so I mixed it with the ravioli and you ate it all. Oh, and don't even get me started talking about you and the bread sticks...although who can blame you???

So what have you been up to this month?

-You LOVE "Baby Signing Time" and you even try to turn on the tv to watch it (you CAN turn on the tv, but if you do, you don't get to watch it). You have greatly increased the signs that you use. You have known "all done" for awhile, but now you know "more","please","baby","food" and "milk". You have even started singing the theme song, which is really crazy because you haven't watched it THAT much...Although, if it was up to you, you would watch it 24/7.

-"Baby Signing Time" does give us a little reprieve because for the most part that is the only time you will sit down and be still. Otherwise, you are, as my grandparents dubbed you, a perpetual motion machine. No one can get over the fact that you just go, go, go. You don't like to sit or be still and you want to walk around everywhere.

- You still love reading and books. You like to read them on your own now, but you still love to have them read to you, over and over and over again!

- You are basically a full time table food eater now. We try our hardest to have you eat with us at every meal and you seem to like everything. You are giving us a little bit of hard time with some veggies, but I guess that is to be expected.

-You do actually say a few words. You say, "silly", "bye bye (but you say die die)","see ya", "baby (dady)" and "outside".

- You love to wave bye bye and you have also started blowing kisses. You are still the best hugger and you have started giving kisses. On the topic of hugging, that is something that you love to do when you first meet other kids. You will walk right up to them and give them a big hug. Most of the time, it's no big deal, but we have to make sure you aren't hugging someone who doesn't want one....LOL.

- You have for the most part mastered walking, but sometimes you get a little anxious around perceived cracks on the floor. You will bend over and put your hands on the floor to help your feet over the "crack". Sometimes it is just a crack in the sidewalk, but other times it is just a little tape on the floor....LOL.

-For the most part, lately the main adjective that everyone uses to describe you is "funny" and I would have to agree. You are such a joy, my little one. You bring smiles to everyone that you meet. Whether it's the old lady, that you charm as we walk by in the grocery store or the funny little jig that you do when you are excited that makes everyone laugh, people just can't help but be happy when you are around.

One of the mommy blogs that I follow, talked about a culture that believes that babies choose the family that they are born into, because they have something to teach them. I am starting to believe this to be true. Being your Mommy means that I have to put myself out there, because you are so friendly and outgoing and you draw me out with you. I have clung to my extroverted, shy self for so long and that is not really an option anymore and our lives have become so much more interesting as a result. Thank you, my Magster, for enriching our lives so.

Hope that you had a great weekend and that you are having a great Monday!
