Friday Randoms
Hola Compadres! Sorry I've been a little MIA this week, it's just been....stuff....
But here I am with a quick wrap up from last weekend.
Last weekend was a doozy! SUPAH busy and fun.
My mom and step-dad came over on Saturday and we spent the day at the park, went out to lunch and then hung out. Just a couple of minutes after they left, our friends came over for a pumpkin carving party. Then on Sunday, my sister came over to visit and then the weekend was gone. It literally felt like I blinked, and then it was Monday.
As for this week, I am VERY glad it is over! Tuesday, Mags had a major meltdown at a mom's group Halloween playgroup and then she had a suspicious sore on her face, that I rushed her to the Dr. for, to be told that it was probably just a pimple....nice.
The rest of the week has been a blur and I am so happy that is Friday!!!! One highlight of the week, were some of my shows...New Girl made me absolutely cry laughing and I am completely in love with Nashville... I mean come on....
Also, I finished the book Wonder, and the ending made me cry, big happy tears. It's an amazing book and I highly recommend it!!
As for this weekend, can I get a big WOOOHOOOO? We have a relaxing night tonight, then tomorrow morning the in-laws are coming to take some of our stuff to storage and they're taking Mags for the night. The Hubs and I are celebrating our anniversary and my birthday with dinner and a movie. Then Sunday, it's over to the in-laws to celebrate my birthday. WOOT!
What are your plans for the weekend? Hope you have a great one!!!

"Pumpkin" Fun
Check Pumpkin Patch off the Fall Bucket List, we did it up right!
Saturday, we headed over to the same farm that we went to last year. It is not technically a pumpkin patch, but we love the whole atmosphere, it's free unless you want to buy anything and they have horse drawn wagon. I looked into the farm that we went to do when Maggie was an infant, and they want $10.95 per person just for admission, now granted they did have a few more things to do, but still...that is crazy!!!
There was a horse drawn wagon, yummy cookies and hay maze fun. The only thing is, it was a little crowded and in all the hubbub, we forgot to get a pumpkin....oh well, we just have to get one before this weekend, when we have some friends over for a pumpkin carving party...LOL.
Overall, a great time. How was your weekend? Hope you're having a great day!

Friday Brain Dump
WooHoo! Friday has arrived! What is about long weekend that make the week afterwards seem all out of whack and somewhat longer? Eh, whatever, on to the WEEKEND!!!
So our plans for this weekend are pretty low key. Relaxing tonight and catching up on the week's TV shows. Tomorrow we are headed out to apple and pumpkin pick. We are going to the same place we went last year, so there will also be caramel apples and they supposedly have AH-mazing pumpkin ice cream...so we shall see! And then Sunday, more relaxing.
As for the dumping of my brain....
Please send some "cooking" thoughts my way as I will be attempting not one, but two, crock pot recipes this weekend...Just a quick recap for anyone who doesn't know, I don't cook, and I know using a crock pot is not really cooking per se, but I have also never used my crock pot before. We got it as a wedding gift (shout out to the hubs, as our 4th anniversary was yesterday, Love you Nerd!) and it has been used twice, by my husband for his awesome winter chili (don't tell but the secret ingredient is Guiness....). So I'm not sure how this is going to go. Any tips or recommendations?
So the recipe for Saturday is Crock pot Baked Potato Soup.
I also got some green onion, bacon and crusty bread for dipping...I really hope it turns out!
And Sunday I am attempting "Tater tot Casserole", which I found in a Fix it and Forget it cookbook, but I first heard about it on the Duggars (or 19 Kids and Counting) and have always wanted to try it. Wish me luck!
Enough about cooking and onto the cuteness, and a little bit of a head scratcher...
For about a year now, Mags has been adamant about not going on the swings. Turns out it was the "baby" swing that she isn't a fan of...Big kid swing, with Mommy barely pushing her because of her terrible anxiety, that is where it's at! Heaven help me!
This...
And this...
Hello, my name is Sarah and I suffer from "Always looking for the next great book, so that I am currently in the middle of three books, because I keep getting more books". Guys, this is serious. I think the issues is that right now I am feeling a little unsettled and having a hard time focusing on reading. These days, I actually find it more relaxing just perusing bookshelves, reviews and Goodreads, for more books, than actually reading them.
But oh well, this too shall pass.
Any great plans for the weekend? Hope you have a great one!

Monday Catch-up on a Tuesday
So normally I recap the weekend on Monday, but since the hubs had off yesterday, we spent our long weekend at our very close to second, favorite place (Disney, of course, is 1st, but it loses a lot of points for being too far away and uber expensive, but we still love it the most!), the BEACH!!!!
We left on Friday night, and the traffic was a bit much, but we finally made it. And the minute we walked into the house, it was like all the stress and anxiety just melted away. It is a truly magical place!
Friday night Mags had a hard time sleeping and she was up with the birds on Saturday morning...Boo for Mommy. But Daddy made up for it by going out and getting us yummy baked goods from the bakery and a large coffee for Mommy. Then we headed out to the promenade for a little jaunt in the sunshine. It was a beautiful day and Mags loved that she could walk and walk and run and walk and walk.....
It was a little windy, but the sun felt so good and the salt air smelled great. It was a lot of fun!
Then we went over to some shops and as per Mag's request....
That night we went out to dinner at one of our favorite spots and I had an amazing
burger with bleu cheese, BBQ sauce and carmelized onions....absolutely DIVINE!
Sunday was not as nice weather wise, but we were just content to hang out and veg! It was actually cold enough Sunday night to start a fire...no complaints here!
All in all, it was a rejuvenating and relaxing weekend, just what the Dr. ordered.
How was your weekend? Hope you're having a great day!
So just a little aside, has anyone started thinking about taxes yet? Taxes and finances are something that are always on my mind. It is a lot to consider and I feel like the IRS tax forms are always changing. I guess one place that would be helpful to check out if you have any questions would be a tax blog. Just something to start thinking about, I guess. Better to get ready for it now, than later!

Monday - On the Radar
Good Monday morning to you!
How was your weekend? Ours was fun and relaxing.
We had a quiet Friday evening and on Saturday the in-laws came up to go out for dinner.
Then when we got home, the hubs and I watched "The Avengers". It was good, but we both agree that the new "Batman" was a lot better. Sunday was anothering relaxing day. The perfect way to end the weekend and prepare for the week ahead.
So what is on my radar these days?
Well little Miss Magster turned 26 months on Thursday. I'm not doing "official" updates anymore, but I don't want to let it pass completely unnoticed...
The other day I took a look at her 14 month update and it had her 2 month pic for comparison. Oh man, I thought there were a lot of changes then....LOL
From an itsy bitsy baby, to a jegging Phillie's fan, to Miss Shaggy hair silly pants....Where has the time gone?
So what's up this month? Just a whole lot of increased communication, discipline and overall fun.
Mag's communication is really advancing, I would have to say more and more everyday! She mimics everything we say and is starting to understand A LOT! Yesterday, she wanted to be story time lady and sat in the chair and invited me to "Sit down everybody it's story time.". Ack, I LOVE this pretending. And then I pulled out some Disney dress up shoes that she got for her birthday...forget about it. She loves toddling around in them all over the place and I dare say, she walks better in heels than I do (not saying much....).
But also, this age is a challenge, I'm not going to sugar coat it one bit, discipline is tricky! I think Mandy over at Harper's Happening, summed it up best when she characterized toddlers as sour patch kids, especially with their new ad campaign, "First their sour and then their sweet.". That my friends is a two year old, it volleys every minute (on my part) from such intense love and pride to utter frustration and embarrassment. And there are more things that we can do, but then some of the things we used to do are becoming more difficult with a greater sense of awareness. Let's just say it's an adventure and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Just an example of the sweet....
And now for some things on my radar....
LOVE the new Mumford & Sons album. The single "I Will Wait" has been out for about a month, and the whole family, especially Mags, are big fans. Now that the entire album is out, Brian and I agree that "Babel" is probably the standout, but Mags still loves to belt out, "I will wait, I will wait, I will wait for you!".
And since I seem to have a thing for British period dramas, I caught the new to the US, "Call the Midwife" last night and I am hooked. It is so smart and interesting, I was so engrossed I only looked at the clock once and it was almost over. Can't wait to watch more.
Also, just finished Mitch Albom's, The Timekeeper. It was a super easy read with some really strong points on time and how to really savor it, told in a The Alchemist way. I did not like The Alchemist, but I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it.
So those are the main things on my radar these days!
Hope that you're having a great day!
