Memorial Day 2012

Hello!  Hope you are having a terrific Thursday!
So I forgot to mention, but we had an AMAZING Memorial day weekend.  It was equal parts fun and relaxing, exactly what we needed.

*Warning Picture OVERLOAD*

We got on the road Friday, after scarfing down some pizza, and we made really good time getting to the house.  It was Mag's bedtime, so once Nana and PopPop got there, we put her to bed.  We hung out a bit and then we all headed to bed.

Some Aunt Janice love when we arrived
Then Saturday morning Mags was up at 6:15 (lucky Mommy) and we played around until everyone else got up.  Then it was breakfast, and getting ready for the beach.
Modeling the new bathing suit

And of course the back

I was interested to see how this year panned out, as compared to last year.
Well let's say, something don't change.  Like my daughter's interest in the ocean....yep, still petrified.  Except this year she wasn't even interested in the sand.  She didn't want to touch it or play in it.  She preferred to sit in her stroller under the umbrella, and she was perfectly content...whatevs....LOL.

Ok she sat on the blanket for about 5 minutes....

This is not a cute hug for Daddy, this is, grab for Daddy, "Get me off this sand!!!!!!!"
Maggie & Pete

After lunch and nap time, we had an early dinner and then it was off to the Boardwalk.  Now we had been talking to Maggie about beach stuff for awhile and we talked about the boardwalk, of course, but she has no point of reference.  Didn't matter....This little girl was SOOOOOO excited to go to the boardwalk, she could barely contain herself.  It was adorable!  I was a little worried that she would be disappointed.....

And of course she found Mickey on the boardwalk....

Possibly one of my favorite pics of the entire trip!

Let's just say the boardwalk did not disappoint.  From the minute we walked on the boards and she saw a big ad for Mickey, I had a feeling this was going to be fun!  Mags had a great time people watching as we walked down to the rides, and then she really enjoyed the carousel.  The Dumbo ride, not so much.  We think it was the noisiness, because the height wasn't a problem when we went on the train ride above the amusements afterwards...hmmm, we shall see Disney....
Then there was Korr's ice cream (which I didn't photograph because I was too busy stuffing my own face) and tickles with PopPop.  Finally at a less crowded part of the boardwalk we let her get out and walk as long as she held Daddy's hand, which she did so well.
After that it was home and off to bed.  She feel right to sleep and slept so well that night....Thank you, boardwalk!

So that's just Friday and Saturday....I'll be back with the rest of the weekend!

Have a great rest of your day!!!

Oh Maggie

Hello!  Happy Wednesday!

This morning I woke up to Maggie counting over the monitor...."One ah ah ah, Two ah ah ah, Three ah ah ah....".  Yep, she doesn't really watch Sesame Street anymore, but she likes to count like the Count...LOL!

She can now identify a few of her books, and she has resurrected an "old" fave, "Princess Baby", which she loves yelling at the end.

Mags has become a FaceTime pro and loves to hug and kiss through the phone.

Oh you know, NBD...isn't this how everyone watches "Mickey Mouse"?
Have a great day!!!

An Ode to Grandaddy

Hello!  Happy Friday!  Finally....right???

So the other day I was talking about being able to celebrate my Grandaddy's 80th birthday, and how happy that made me, let me tell you why...

When my parents got divorced, my mom, brother and I moved in with my grandparents and they welcomed us with open arms.  They helped my mom, while she worked  full time and went to school in the evening.

My grandfather was/is the best.  Every night we sat together and read the "funnies" (comics) and that was basically how I learned to read.  When I got in "trouble" and had my dessert taken away, he would sneak me a Vienna cookie, with a "Shhh, don't tell your Mom".  And he was always up for a rousing rendition of "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?".

I love my grandaddy so much and I love celebrating that fact on Father's day!  I try to pick a Father's day card that really captures that and this year I will use Treat to help me out with that.  They have a wide array of really cool cards to choose from, so I will have my work cut out for me this year!

You can keep up with Treat lots of different ways:

Hope that you have a great day!

Currently

Hello! Happy Thursday!!!!

Linking up to talk about what's going with me currently...

Current Book (s):
I am being a little weird and I am currently in the middle of 4 books.....LOL, I know...but I have reasons...

Another Piece of My HeartThin, Rich, Pretty

Insurgent (Divergent)Fifty Shades Darker: Book Two of the Fifty Shades Trilogy

Ridiculous, I know...but I wanted something light and frothy for the beach this weekend, and the last two books are my Iphone and I don't want to read on that on the beach.  I started the second one because I have wanted to read it for awhile and it is so good, I am flying through it, but I really want it for the beach, so I put in on hold and started reading the first one.....There is a method to my madness, I swear....LOL

Current Playlist:
I've heard a few of the songs off John Mayer's new album...and I'm thinking summer soundtrack.
 Born and Raised
Current Color:
I am loving the Tangerine craze, so bright and summery!!!

Current Food:
I am already drooling over the yummy snacks we are probably going to have this weekend.  My MIL made this avocado bean dip a couple of weeks ago, and I am hoping that it makes a repeat appearance...

Current Favorite Show:
We are a little behind on this season of House and we are catching up every night.  We are two episodes behind and I can't wait to see how the series ends...

Current Bane of my existence:
The weather.....can we have a little consistency please???  Can we have a nice day without the threat of rain??  Please???

Current Celebrity Crush:
I have always loved Robert Sean Leonard, but he is really amazing on "House".  He's come a long way since "Dead Poet's Society"....

Current #1 Blessing:
The fact that we have an amazing beach house only 2 hours away, that we can use almost any time.

Current Indulgence:
Not really currently indulging, because I know that this weekend is going to be all indulgence all the time....LOL

Current Outfit:
Nothing exciting going on here...LOL...but I would love to rock this outfit!

Current Favorite Product:
I am loving the spray sunscreens.  I think they are so much easier with a toddler, because you can spray and you are done!

80 years

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!!

Two weekends ago, we celebrated the birthday of one of my favorite people in the world, my grandaddy.  My grandaddy holds a special place in my heart because he is an amazing person, spectacular grandfather and the best great-grandfather!

I am so glad that were able to be there to commemorate his 80th birthday.  It was a great day, and my mom and step-father (as per the usual) threw a stupendous soiree!  There were friends and family, great tunes and delicious dishes.

And how did Mags fare?  Well, there were kids, a puppy and her new found obsession "Balaloons"....(nope, not a typo, my kid's so special she just decided to throw an extra syllable in there and guess what?  It's catching on!!!) so needless to say the tiny one was in heaven!  Oh and she just about sealed the deal as favorite niece for eternity with my brother, Ben, when she started calling him "Unka Beh"....

Obviously Uncle Ben + "Balaloons"= the funniest thing EVAH!

Then Sunday morning, we went to Church and then came back to have a little Mother's day breakfast.  Maggie helped Grammy open her present, but got a little nervous when she accidentally/on purpose ripped the tissue paper, and that would explain the guilty look in the last pic...LOL.

Another awesome, memory making weekend.
Hope you're having a great day!!!
